Our day two in Skopje ended with a mix of rakija and ouzo and with our Macedonian friends celebrating the first three resignations in PM Gruevski’s crew: Sasho Mijalkov, Gordana Jankuloska and Mile Janakieski left the team. Isn’t this a starting point for a change?
First of all, do you remember those dogs (Kanellos, Loukanikos) that joined the protests in Athens back in 2010? Well, Macedonians have their dog too. He was present this afternoon during the sit-in in front of the Parliament:
And even came back in the evening to support some 20-30 enthusiastic demonstrators:
Tonight, after covering Macedonian protests during the day, we were having the best cevapi in Skopje (somewhere in Old bazaar, you’ll get name and address tomorrow), when it started raining news.
Gordana Jankuloska, Mile Janakieski and Sasho Mijalkov resigned one after the other one. Minister of Interior, Minister of Transports and Infrastructure, and Head of Security and Counterintelligence services (and cousin of the PM!) just left. And this is when rakija and ouzo followed and people gathered in front of the Parliament…
…Singing “Nikolce Diktatorce“, “small Nikola (Gruevski) is a small dictator”
And waiting for something to happen
Finally, nothing happened but rendez-vous is (again) tomorrow at 6PM, for another protest like the one of today
But in the meanwhile, some “ostavka” (resignation) really happened.
